The rest of Victoria’s trip was absolutely wonderful!

As I mentioned, we went over to Joyce & Jeremy’s apartment to spend Thanksgiving with them. We had a sinfully delicious meal with them, a wonderful visit, and played some cards (see above - they got them when they visited dad & Debby in October). I definitely had beginners luck because I won our game of gin rummy - my first time to play. We also took a little stroll and took the dogs to the dog park for a little bit to get out and stretch our legs after we were sufficiently stuffed.

Unfortunately A&M lost to UT just barely, which was really sad and depressing. However I have to give the Longhorns some credit for their halftime performance when their band spelled out “Thanks aTm” and played “Thanks for the Memories” - very classy move. If only it had ended differently…

On Friday V and I did tons and tons of shopping and had a delicious dinner at Nolita House - yum! We both found a few cute things, including some great Canal Street purchases by V. That night we met up with my friend Jonathan again and hung out with him, his sister, and some of their friends. We had an absolute blast, and it was a perfect last night for V’s trip!

Saturday we had brunch with our good family friend, Mary Beth, in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) at Le Comptior. I would highly, highly recommend it if you’re in BK and looking for a brunch spot - so reasonable and delicious! We then headed next door to an amazing shop called Fuego 718. The store was full of tons of unique gifts, books, etc. It is seriously one of the coolest places I’ve been into, I could have gone crazy there, and the owner is the sweetest man in the world. He started the shop about 8 years ago, and it’s still going strong and surviving this rocky economy! Saturday was Small Business Appreciation Day so they were having a special deal, and I picked up the above book about Texas along with a couple of Christmas gifts!

[Sidebar: it is so, so important to support local, small businesses, not just on designated days, but every day! They are integral to our economy, and for most, it’s their family’s livelihood! I’m not opposed to chains and corporations, but please, please when you can, support local businesses! As an added bonus, you get an experience you can’t get anywhere else. That’s something to be excited about!]

After brunch we got V off to the airport and on her way back to Oxford, MS to finish out the semester before I get to see her again in a few weeks for Christmas!

Saturday night I spoiled myself and got a facial then headed home to crash very early to recover from a weekend of fun!

Today I took it very easy, starting the day off with the movie Crazy, Stupid, Love, which I thought was so good! Then I threw on my tennis shoes and headed out to take a long afternoon walk through Manhattan. It was a rare, gorgeous November day and the weather could not have been nicer. I did lots of exploring, just enjoying the views of NYC that never, ever get old. I even passed a chorus of cute little old men singing Christmas Carols at South Street Seaport - yay holidays!

The rest of the day was spent at church, dinner with my friend Lori afterwards, and now preparing for the week ahead.

I can’t believe it’s almost December! Merry Christmas, y’all!
